The role: We are looking for a Cloud Data Platform Solution Architect to join our Data Technology team in our India office.

Data is at the core of our business. We have teams of data engineers, machine learning engineers, data scientists and analysts - all working with data to better understand our customers and provide them with the best experience.
You will be responsible for defining the architecture, solution design and governance of our data platform on the cloud. You will provide technical leadership to support our initiatives in cloud computing and automation; with a focus on the design of systems and services that run on cloud platforms.
You will understand the business requirements and enhance the systems to provide the necessary data in the best way according to the IT strategy and the business needs. Together with the team you will work on defining the data model, processing, storage and serving layer for the platform.
Some of your responsibilities:
- Use our architecture process, including the production of artefacts and collaboration with technical & subject matter teams, to ensure solutions are developed and deployed in line with our standards.
- Guide and execute technical decision making on services & implementations, including options, pros / cons and rationale for selected solutions.
- Conduct and coordinate proof of concept activities to ensure feasibility of services and solutions.
- Provide technical governance on non-functional requirements for designs and delivered solutions, covering core pillars of operational excellence, security, performance, reliability & cost.
- Create re-usable patterns and guidance to ensure delivered solutions are consistent and aligned with our technical strategy.
- Create reference architectures for the platform to act as high-level blueprints for capabilities and implementations.
- Work closely with engineering squads on solution designs including build phase, incorporating changes where required.
- Ensure delivered solutions align with the technical strategy of the wider organisation.
- Challenge existing implementations to ensure we continue to optimise our platform and remain up to date.
- Collaborating with technical squads to keep technical debt under control.
- Communicate our technical vision and strategy to both teams within the data tribe and stakeholders.
Who we’re looking for:
- 7+ years experience working on data-focused projects such as data warehousing, big data, data lake / lake house and data streaming.
- Experience with AWS enterprise implementations. Exposure to native, serverless and managed services preferred.
- Exposure to data storage, processing and analytics technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Spark, Apache Flink, AWS DynamoDB and AWS S3
- Enterprise experience working on the full project lifecycle through requirements gathering, design, planning, build and delivery, including post-delivery activities such as incident review, ongoing service review and optimisation.
- Architecture and governance background understanding the role of architecture in enterprise data projects.
- Experience leading and contributing to research and development tasks, including evaluations and proof-of-concept work.
- Experience migrating on premise data solutions to the cloud, with an emphasis on re-architecting.
- Strong understanding of data privacy, data governance and data security principles, including cloud implementations and best practices.
- Proficient in analysing business objectives and requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills.
