  • Identify and drive continuous improvement through the team; while at same time actively participate, collaborate and communicate with other SMs and our tribe Agile Coaches solving wider challenges and driving operational excellence
  • Work in partnership with Product Owners, Product Managers, Delivery Managers, Architects, Agile Programme Managers & others to align delivery for each squad

Who we are looking for:

  • Be an expert in Agile/Scrum/Kanban Delivery methodology
  • Management, coaching, facilitation, and mentoring experience
  • Relevant experience working with squads as Scrum Master, Kanban Coach or similar
  • Certified Scrum Master or Team Kanban Practitioner
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of Scrum & Kanban techniques within digital transformation
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery management tools, such as Jira.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate, communicate, influence and work effectively with key stakeholders.

  • 2+ years experience collaborating with a mixture of software development and infrastructure oriented teams
  • Excellent experience working with product managers to understand and communicate roadmaps, and to align team behaviours with portfolio management concepts
  • Familiarity with industry standard agility and software delivery metrics and can connect the dots to the underlying practices
  • Sound understanding of Scaling frameworks such as SoS, SAFe, LeSS, Kanban STATIK or similar for coordinating across squads
  • Sound understanding of supporting a squad with their agile technical practices such as XP, CICD, DevOps, QA Automation & Shift Left testing
  • Ability to leverage skills from coaching, facilitation, conflict resolution, and more to serve the team(s)
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology strategies (data platform experience a bonus)
  • Ability to leverage capabilities across the business to solve local problems
  • Experience developing shared internal training and learning materials that apply the principles of Lean, Agile, and product transformation
  • Ability to support our Agile Coaches to evaluate squad maturity and create a realistic plan to help them continuously improve

Your behaviours:

  • A Servant Leader: whose focus is on the needs of the team members and the people they provide value to (the customer) with the goal of achieving results in line with the organization’s values, principles, and business objectives.
  • A Facilitator: by setting the stage and providing clear boundaries in which the team can collaborate.
  • A Coach: coaching the individual with a focus on mindset and behaviour, the team in continuous improvement and the organization in truly collaborating with the Scrum team.
  • A Manager: responsible for managing impediments, eliminate waste, managing the process, managing the team's health, managing the boundaries of self-organization, and managing the culture.
  • A Mentor: that transfers Agile knowledge and experience to the team.
  • A Teacher: to ensure Scrum, Kanban and other relevant methods are understood and enacted.
  • An Impediment Remover: solving blocking issues to the team's progress, taking into account the self-organizing capabilities of the Development Team.
  • A Change Agent: to enable a culture in which Scrum Teams can flourish.
  • Communication: critical in this role as you are listening, comprehending, repeating, summarizing, energizing, observing, writing, simplifying, critiquing, suggesting, asserting, chatting, presenting - all in one. Each conversation merits its own synergy and skill.
  • Taking responsibility: You are a representative of your team. If you are able to build and gain their trust, then you should be able to stand up for them and be proud to represent them whether they have achieved success / lesser success.
  • Appreciate the goodness: Humans can be judgemental but to go above and beyond in appreciating your team member's efforts and allowing them to progress and succeed takes real leadership, that will definitely command the respect of your team.
  • Neutrality: Being neutral is not the same as being diplomatic. For any challenge, decisions should be taken on the basis of validation and merit, instead of who you are friends with. This can lead to very tough decisions.
  • Detail as needed: A scrum master can be involved in a very detailed decision which determines the solution to a problem or in a discussion that maps the strategy of an implementation. Regardless of the level of detail, you should be able to switch gears.
  • Light-hearted: All work and no fun makes a scrum master very dull indeed. Having fun is not just for you but also for your team. Just having some time in the sprint when your team is not thinking about work can be energizing and rewarding. At the same time, no problem is a big problem. A cool mind leads to better focus and better problem-solving experience.
