The role: Front-end Developer

We are looking for a Front-end Developer to join our Player Account Management Case Work team in Toronto.

This role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing you to combine working from home with working in our modern offices. These discussions are between you and your manager to find the best pattern for you both! We will kit you out to work from home but know that working as a team is what makes us great and spending quality time together is essential for keeping us mission aligned.

As part of the Case Work Team you will be helping to develop large scale mission critical Web applications that meet expectations of the business sponsors and done in accordance with the best development, test and security standards.

You would be responsible for the design, maintenance and enhancement of the corporate Customer Relationship System along with other satellite back-office applications that facilitate interaction between the clients and the company.

Why we need you

Reporting directly to the Team Lead, PAM Development, the Front-end Developer will:

  • Review and estimate business requirements

  • Develop Web-based client applications according to the BRD, in line with the corporate standards and procedures

  • Unit test the code

  • Profile the applications to ensure adequate performance and optimal bundle size

  • Conduct security vulnerability tests

  • Provide application technical documentation

  • Participate in code review

  • Support and maintain existing applications

  • Get involved in application design discussions including application architecture, teat, build and deployment process, third party library utilization

  • Stay on top of the latest technological trends; contribute to decision making on selection/adoptions of IDE, development frameworks, test and deployment tools

Who we’re looking for

we’re looking for a team player with experience working within an Agile software development team, with an Enthusiasm the share knowledge.

You will stand out if you have the following:

  • 2+ years of industry experience in a Software Developer role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field

  • Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML and CSS, RXJS

  • Hands on experience with Angular

  • Knowledge of the test frameworks and test runners such as Jest, Jasmine, Karma

  • Experience with JavaScript application packaging/ bundling tools such as Webpack

  • Knowledge of the Web standards and Web browser API  (HTTP/HTTPS protocols, Web Sockets, Web Workers, DOM, Web storage,  DataView, etc.)

  • Knowledge of software design principles, design patterns and algorithms

  • Understanding of application development lifecycle

  • Experience with source code version control tools

Any experience with the following would be beneficial:

  • Experience developing large scale customer support systems

  • Experience with continuous integration tools

  • Familiarity with the Dockers and dockerized applications

  • Experience with the cloud-based application development, maintenance and monitoring (AWS)

  • Exposure to the middle-tier/ back-end development

  • Understanding of the databases, normalized, denormalized and document-based data structures
