The role: Marketing Planning & Projects Manager – Maternity Cover -  Betfair International

We are looking for a Marketing Planning & Projects Manager to join our International Marketing team on a 12 month maternity leave cover.

Reporting to the Head of Brand Strategy & Planning, Betfair International you will lead on our end-to-end go-to-market planning process within Betfair’s International markets.

The International Marketing team are responsible for growing the Betfair brand in our key target regions in Europe and Latin America, and your role will be a vital enabler in scaling our operational capacity to deliver against this ambition. Our growth plans for 2023 are highly aspirational, but increasingly complex due to the range of internal stakeholders, third party agencies, markets and large budgets involved. As such, we’re looking for someone who is exceptionally well organised and possesses strong stakeholder management skills, to ensure our marketing vision is delivered on time and within a robust planning framework.

Leading one Executive reporting to you directly, you will play the central role in managing Betfair’s external agency resource. From managing competitive pitch processes and quarterly business reviews, to contract negotiations and billing, you will ensure the smooth running of our marketing operations and best-in-class agency support in International markets.

Working across Brand, Digital, CRM and Commercial your role will be central to co-ordinating a function that brings together a singular cohesive vision across all BF INTL verticals. By delivering a consistent monthly planning and reporting cycle, your team will support strategic alignment with commercial stakeholders and ensure campaign outcomes are surfaced beyond the Marketing team.

Why we need you

Your role will include:

  • Lead the end to end planning cycle for Betfair International, ensuring all teams are adhering to timelines and delivering through the line campaigns. The Planning & Project manager will create a planning process that breaks down the silos within marketing and will bring together all the plans into a coherent framework ensuring that right teams external to marketing such as insights and measurement are brought into the process at the relevant time.

  • Own the monthly marketing planning and reporting cycle, concatenating inputs from Brand, Digital and CRM teams to play back marketing plans and performance to stakeholders around the business. The Planning & Projects Manager will look to continuously improve how marketing reports on performance and presents plans.

  • Working closely with Procurement and Finance teams to manage new agency contracts and renewals, billing processes and developing Group capabilities to manage FX rate liabilities for large media transactions

  • Manage tender processes for new agencies, ensuring Betfair is set up for success with the very best local media agencies in all our International target markets.  

  • Support on the management of media agencies to ensure Betfair receives an outstanding level of service in all regions. Eg, coordinating Quarterly Business Reviews, sourcing weekly/monthly market insights, mapping of agency strengths and capability gaps, etc

  • Representing the Marketing team within major, regionally agnostic, cross-functional projects.

  • Working with finance and commercial to co-ordinate marketing input into the annual and quarterly budgeting process. Ensuring teams have the right information to build budgets and ensuring signed off numbers are communicated to the marketing teams and teams are working off the right budget numbers.

  • Managing documentation of regulatory changes including the marketing compliance framework and current marketing best practice per region.

Who we’re looking for

Your experience:

  • Experience in a fast-moving ecommerce environment

  • Significant agency management experience

  • Commercial acumen and a will to deliver projects that impact brand metrics

  • Experience managing a team

  • Strong Excel & PowerPoint skills

  • Comfortable both in detail and in stepping back to consider long term strategy
