Job title: Backend Developer

Overview of the role:
We have an exciting new role in our Product Team for someone who is enthusiastic, organised and feels passion for code.
You’ll be reporting into the Technology Lead in a team of 5 who all share a passion for code, poker and understanding our customers behaviour.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same! You’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining robust backend systems, collaborating with stakeholders to integrate new features, and ensuring the seamless performance of our application. You’ll play crucial role in optimizing our backend infrastructure, contributing to the scalability of our, and providing technical insights to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
Our ways of working is hybrid and we work 3 days/week from our Vilnius office and Monday and Friday are from home.
Our Vilnius office, the headquarters of PokerNews, is a vibrant hub designed for both team collaboration and personal development. It features three well-equipped meeting rooms and a leisure room where we enjoy playing darts and foosball, adding a fun and relaxing element to our work environment. What you’ll do:
You’ll play a key role in helping us deliver game-changing projects, continually raising the bar while working at pace.
Development & Code Management

Collaborate with Product Team on ongoing projects, contributing to the refactoring of existing codebases for improved performance and scalability

Develop new microservices and implement FaaS (Feature as a Service) solutions

Participate actively in Agile Scrum sprints, estimating work and delivering within timelines

Assist with the testing and maintenance of applications to ensure high quality and reliability

Engage in code review process, providing and receiving constructive feedback
What you’ll bring:

Hands-on experience with PHP frameworks (Symfony or Laravel)

A deep understanding of MySQL, GIT and Agile Methodologies

Excellent communication across a range of channels and audiences

A cool head under pressure – we work as a team and support each other but some periods are busier than others.

An enthusiastic approach to problem solving

A can-do attitude and a willingness to get stuck into any task.
Desirable:

Experience with Docker
-
Hands-on experience with PHPUnit or PHPSpec.

Interest in poker
