Job title: Data Product Owner (18-24 Months Secondment)

Overview of the role:
We’re looking for a Data Product Owner to join our forward-thinking Data & Analytics Tribe on an 18–24 month secondment. This is a unique opportunity to shape and deliver impactful data products that drive strategic business outcomes. You’ll work with a modern AWS-based data stack, including Databricks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring data solutions to life.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and manage a plan for data products in your defined area, aligning with business priorities and driving stakeholder engagement.
- Manage a backlog, and prioritize work aligned with squad, team, and organizational goals
- Translate complex business needs into clear, actionable product requirements that align with our current data capabilities
- Lead a cross-functional squad to deliver value iteratively, ensuring alignment with business outcomes and ways of working
- Serve as the main contact between collaborators and team(s), facilitating transparency in product / initiative progress
- Conduct workshops with collaborators to identify and prioritize essential data requirements, considering various timeframes
- Share your expertise in defining, delivering, managing, supporting and retiring data products & capabilities
- Lead product (end-user) communication, ensuring assets are widely understood and adopted
- Partner with data engineering to ensure data platforms and systems are continuously improved and modernized
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and data governance standards throughout the data lifecycle.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience as a Product Owner/Product Manager, or you’re from an engineering background looking to break into Product, ideally in a data-focused environment.
- Hands-on experience with Databricks (e.g., Delta Lake, notebooks, job orchestration, Unity Catalog).
- Strong understanding of data product development at scale, including data warehousing, lakehouse architectures, and enterprise BI.
- Experience with data migrations and modernizing legacy data systems is a plus.
- SQL knowledge to explore data, validate requirements, and ensure accurate delivery of data-driven features
- You have experience working with Cloud providers i.e. AWS
- You have experience of Agile Scrum/Kanban methodology – you are comfortable with writing epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, definition of done, etc.
- You are an effective communicator, both verbal and written
- You are a problem solver, and can utilise a variety of business analysis techniques
- You can effectively lead all aspects of and work with a diverse group of collaborators, including business leaders and data engineering teams.
- You approach tasks with determination, and a keen focus on achieving outcomes.
- You find it easy to assimilate knowledge, and share this with others
- You are a self-starter. You are proactive, dynamic, and motivated to add customer value
