Overview of the role:
We are transforming our Sofia studio into a high-performing Technology Hub, focused on building scalable, high-quality game development capabilities.
As part of this transformation, we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in building and evolving our products, improving engineering practices, and helping teams deliver faster, with higher quality.
This is a hands-on engineering role with growing technical leadership expectations. You will contribute directly to building systems while influencing how your team designs, develops, and delivers software.
You will work closely with engineers, tech leads, and product teams to solve complex problems, improve development workflows, and ensure we maintain high engineering standards.
This role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing you to combine working from home with working in our modern offices. These discussions are between you and your manager to find the best pattern for you both, while recognising that quality time together is essential for keeping us mission-aligned.

What you’ll do:
Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-quality software systems

Take ownership of features and components , from design through to production

Actively contribute to technical discussions, solution design, and decision-making within your team

Collaborate with product, design, and other engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions

Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and reliability issues
-
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code , following best practices

Contribute to improving engineering standards, tools, and processes
-
Support and guide mid-level and junior engineers , helping them grow
-
Participate in code reviews , ensuring quality and knowledge sharing

Contribute to continuous improvement of the development lifecycle (CI/CD, testing, automation)

Be proactive in identifying inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement
What you’ll bring:
Engineering Expertise:

Strong hands-on experience with:

Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, React

Solid understanding of:

RESTful APIs and distributed systems basics

Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and writing reliable tests
