READY TO CHANGE THE GAME?
Join the Flutter Central & Eastern Europe team. This is where bold, ambitious minds build scalable platforms, drive innovation, and shape the future of iGaming in the region.
The FinOps role sits within Architecture, Strategy & Delivery (ASD) and is accountable for establishing, operating and continuously improving a disciplined AWS FinOps capability at Flutter CEE organisation level. The role provides holistic visibility over AWS spend, usage, forecasts, cost drivers, optimisation opportunities, ownership gaps and financial risks across all Flutter CEE AWS platforms, accounts, services, workloads and initiatives.
The role translates Flutter CEE strategy, CIO priorities, AWS platform usage patterns and delivery roadmaps into a practical FinOps operating model that gives CIO, CTO, CSO, Finance and technology stakeholders trusted cost insight, clear decision points and measurable optimisation actions.
The FinOps role acts as the coordination owner for AWS cost governance across Flutter CEE, operating through ASD while partnering with Technology Service & Operations, IS Security, AI & Innovation Hub, Performance Intelligence, CTO Product Engineering, CSO/business stakeholders, Finance and Procurement where AWS consumption, cloud architecture or platform decisions affect financial control.
The role owns the FinOps cadence, cost visibility model, showback and allocation approach, optimisation pipeline, forecast insight, consumption governance and reporting discipline required to connect AWS spend to strategy, architecture, delivery and budget decisions across Flutter CEE.
This role does not own final enterprise strategy, final budget approvals, AWS platform engineering, architecture standards, product engineering delivery or procurement contract authority. It provides the FinOps leadership, financial insight, governance discipline and stakeholder coordination needed so those decisions are made with timely, trusted and actionable AWS cost intelligence.
What You'll Do:
AWS Cost Visibility, Reporting & Insight
• Own the creation of trusted AWS cost visibility across accounts, services, platforms, teams, products, markets, environments and initiatives across Flutter CEE where data is available.
• Define and maintain FinOps reporting standards, cost KPIs, dashboards, executive summaries, trend analysis, anomaly reporting and decision-oriented views.
• Ensure AWS spend reporting explains cost drivers, forecast movement, variance causes, optimization actions, ownership gaps and decisions required.
Use AI-enabled analysis where appropriate to improve cost summaries, anomaly detection, reporting preparation and stakeholder communication while keeping human judgement and accountability for decisions.
Budget, Forecasting & Financial Governance Support
• Support annual budget planning, rolling forecasts, actuals tracking and spend-versus-plan analysis for AWS-related costs across Flutter CEE in partnership with the Budgeting & Reporting Specialist.
• Provide AWS consumption forecasts, cost risk insight, demand assumptions, investment implications and budget variance explanations for CIO and Finance stakeholders.
• Connect AWS financial insight to Flutter CEE strategy, CIO priorities, CTO platform/product roadmaps, delivery plans, market expansion assumptions and operational needs.
• Identify budget pressure, funding gaps, cost anomalies or forecast risks early and escalate them with context, options, recommendations and decision requirements.
• Support better investment decisions by linking AWS spend to usage, ownership, expected value and delivery outcomes.
Cost Allocation, Tagging & Ownership Governance
• Define and govern minimum AWS tagging, account, environment, service and cost allocation standards needed for ownership, showback and reporting.
• Work with platform, architecture, delivery and finance stakeholders to improve cost attribution across teams, initiatives, markets and services.
• Identify unallocated or poorly attributed spend and drive corrective actions with accountable owners.
• Establish showback routines that make AWS cost ownership visible, understandable and actionable across CIO, CTO, CSO,
market and business stakeholders.
• Ensure cost allocation standards are practical, maintainable and aligned with architecture and operational realities.
Optimisation Pipeline & Consumption Governance
• Own the AWS optimization pipeline, ensuring opportunities are identified, qualified, prioritized, assigned, tracked and measured
through to realized impact.
• Coordinate optimization actions across relevant CIO, CTO and CSO stakeholders.
• Govern recommendations related to rightsizing, storage optimization, unused resources, reserved commitments, savings plans, architecture choices and workload lifecycle management.
• Establish scheduled consumption planning so AWS capacity scales up for peak periods, seasonal demand, campaign windows and high-traffic hours, and scales down when demand reduces.
• Drive automated start/stop routines, time-based scaling, demand-based scaling and lifecycle policies for non-production, test, development, reporting, batch and temporary workloads.
• Challenge always-on consumption where there is no clear business, resilience, security or operational justification.
• Ensure optimization planning considers business calendars, product events, market activity, customer traffic patterns, release windows and operational support requirements.
• Ensure optimization decisions balance cost efficiency with service resilience, security, compliance, performance, delivery risk and business impact.
• Track realized savings, avoided cost, risk reduction and cost-control improvements in a transparent and repeatable way.
Cost-Aware Architecture & Delivery Alignment
• Partner with Architecture and Delivery directions to embed cost awareness earlier in initiative planning, design reviews, Technical Design Authority inputs and delivery governance.
• Ensure major AWS-enabled initiatives have cost assumptions, forecast impacts, ownership models and optimisation considerations visible before key delivery commitments are made.
• Support cost-aware decision-making for platform migrations, new market expansion, observability, resilience, security controls, AI workloads and technology modernisation.
• Provide constructive challenge where design choices, delivery decisions or consumption patterns create material cost risk or unclear ownership.
• Ensure FinOps insight is connected to architecture standards, delivery plans, portfolio governance and budget decision points.
FinOps Stakeholder Management & Capability Building
• Own stakeholder management for AWS FinOps across CIO, CTO, CSO and business stakeholders.
• Establish FinOps forums, working sessions, review cadences and communication routes focused on decisions, ownership and actions.
• Build FinOps awareness and practical capability across teams so cost ownership becomes part of everyday technology and delivery thinking.
• Create templates, guidance, playbooks and ways of working that make AWS cost management understandable and repeatable.
• Promote a culture of transparency, cost ownership, optimisation, financial discipline and balanced decision-making.
What We're Looking For:
• Strong experience in FinOps, cloud financial management, cloud cost governance, technology finance, cloud program management or infrastructure financial operations roles.
• Strong understanding of AWS cost and usage concepts, including accounts, services, billing dimensions, tagging, cost allocation, commitments, storage, compute, data transfer and common optimisation levers.
• Experience building cost visibility, dashboards, reporting routines, forecasts, variance explanations and executive-level cloud cost insight.
• Experience coordinating optimisation actions across platform, infrastructure, architecture, security, finance, procurement and delivery stakeholders.
• Experience operating in matrix environments where cost ownership, technical ownership and budget ownership sit with different stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of programme governance, RAID, dependency management, stakeholder management, reporting cadence and escalation practices.
• Ability to translate technical AWS consumption into clear financial insight, business impact, risks, options and decisions required.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to challenge unclear ownership, unmanaged consumption, weak cost allocation and unrealistic forecasts in a constructive way.
• Experience using cloud cost tools, AWS billing data, dashboards, spreadsheets, BI/reporting platforms or FinOps tooling to support decision-making.
• Ability to apply AI-enabled ways of working to improve analysis, reporting, summaries, governance preparation and stakeholder communication while maintaining human judgement and accountability.
