Overview of the role:

Flutter Technology is recruiting an AI Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and delivery of AI-powered solutions that support the Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC). This role is suited to an engineer who can contribute to the development of AI systems within a collaborative team environment, applying learnt knowledge and growing their technical expertise with appropriate guidance and escalation.

As a member of the APEX (AI Powered Engineering Experience) team, you will support the delivery of AI capabilities that impact engineers across the organisation. You will work with agentic frameworks, apply integration patterns for tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor, and contribute to technical decisions within defined parameters. You'll work with LLM deployments on AWS Bedrock, support cloud-native infrastructure using Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code, and contribute to the reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness of our AI systems.

The right candidate brings some hands-on experience with AI/ML systems, working knowledge across the PDLC/SDLC, and a desire to grow their expertise in AI engineering. You'll operate autonomously within defined parameters, escalate appropriately, and contribute to initiatives that support how software gets built at Flutter.

This role follows a hybrid approach to working, allowing you to combine working from home with working in our modern offices. These discussions are between you and your manager to find the best pattern for you both, while recognising that quality time together is essential for keeping us mission-aligned.

What you’ll do:

• Contribute to the design and development of agentic AI systems that address real PDLC challenges, from requirements to deployment.

• Support end-to-end delivery of AI capabilities, taking responsibility for implementation quality within defined scope, and escalating as appropriate.

• Develop and maintain agentic workflows using LangGraph, LangChain, or similar orchestration frameworks, following established patterns and standards.

• Support the deployment and operation of LLM-powered services on AWS using Bedrock, Lambda, ECS, and other cloud-native services, with appropriate observability.

• Contribute to infrastructure for AI workloads using Kubernetes, Terraform, and/or Crossplane, in line with security, reliability, and cost guidelines.

• Follow and apply integration patterns for AI tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, and Cursor, to support a consistent developer experience across the PDLC.

• Contribute to and apply technical decisions about AI platform architecture, model selection, and operational practices as directed.

• Apply and adhere to standards for AI engineering practices including prompt design, evaluation frameworks, monitoring, and incident response.

• Support and contribute to technical initiatives that improve platform capabilities, developer productivity, or operational excellence.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product teams, platform engineers, and stakeholders to understand needs and contribute to impactful solutions.

• Stay current with emerging AI technologies, participating in proof-of-concepts and sharing findings with the team.

• Ensure quality through testing, monitoring, and contributing to the continuous improvement of AI systems in production.

Experience:

• Professional Experience: 1 - 3 years in software engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps with working knowledge of the full PDLC/SDLC.

• AI Systems Exposure: Some exposure to or experience with AI/ML systems, including LLM-based applications and agentic workflows.

• Agentic AI Frameworks: Familiarity with or introductory experience with LangGraph, LangChain, or similar orchestration frameworks for building multi-step AI agents.

• Cloud Infrastructure: Working knowledge of AWS services including Bedrock, Lambda, ECS, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch.

• Kubernetes & IaC: Basic to working experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and/or Crossplane for infrastructure provisioning.

• Programming Proficiency: Proficient in Python; exposure to Go or other systems programming languages is a plus.

• System Design: Awareness of distributed systems, APIs, and data pipelines, and an understanding of scalability, reliability, and maintainability principles.

• Developer Tooling: Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor), primarily from a user perspective.

• Observability & Operations: Awareness of and developing experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting for production systems (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, etc.).

• Technical Contribution: Some experience contributing to technical projects or initiatives, with developing autonomy.

• Bonus Points: Exposure to RAG systems, vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate), model fine-tuning, or open-source AI projects. AWS certifications are a plus.
