Kim Daly is Managing Director at Betfair International and her career journey at Flutter is nothing short of inspirational! Dive into Kim's story below and find out where it all began, what Kim loves most about working at Betfair International, and her advice for women considering a career here.
Hi Kim! What is your career background and when did you join Flutter?
I actually joined Paddy Power right out of college on their digital marketing grad program, funny enough I worked in Paddy Power’s betting shops whilst I was at college. After working in Paddy Power for a number of years I left to join another gambling brand and joined Betfair who would go on to merge with Paddy Power and form Paddy Power Betfair in 2016.
What attracted you to working at Paddy Power initially?
I loved the Paddy Power brand, the mischief and challenger mindset it had was something I had always admired. It also had a great reputation as a really good employer in Ireland.
What has your career journey been like since working at Flutter? Have you moved around teams/brands?
I’ve been in the company for over 11 years, but I’ve been lucky to work on multiple brands and multiple regions during this period. I initially started my career at Flutter in the digital marketing space but expanded that over time. I’ve done everything from marketing technology, heading up our in-house creative studio, managing our planning processes, then creating the Betfair International marketing team and finally becoming the Managing Director at Betfair International. That’s one of the things I love about Flutter, there’s opportunities to move around and work on different brands, in different teams and different markets.
What is your biggest achievement in Betfair International so far?
My career was always in the marketing space, but I was lucky to have a manager who really pushed me out of my comfort zone and didn’t take no when my imposter syndrome was telling me I couldn’t do it. Thanks to his support and belief in me, I stepped into a bigger role as Managing Director, and I’ve driven considerable growth for Betfair International.
What do you love most about working at Betfair International?
The people. I love being surrounded by smart, innovative people as it encourages me to be the best I can be. I’m really lucky, I have an amazing team who surprise me every day with what they’re delivering and still continue to have fun along the way.
What advice would you give to women considering a career at Flutter International?
Go for it. Use your network to connect with other people from Flutter to find jobs that you may like. Once you’re in, the sky’s the limit!
